But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."
Joshua 24:15 (New International Version)

Failure is not an option.

Women who insist upon having the same options as men would do well to consider the option of being the strong, silent type
Fran Lebowitz

The LORD did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. But it was because the LORD loved you
Deuteronomy 7:7-8a (New International Version)

It was mealtime during a flight on a British Airways plane:
'Would you like dinner?' the flight attendant asked the man seated in the front row.
'What are my choices?' the man asked.
'Yes or no,' she replied.

Metaphysics is a restaurant where they give you a thirty thousand page menu, and no food.
Robert M. Pirsig

for you are a people holy to the LORD your God. Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the LORD has chosen you to be his treasured possession.
Deuteronomy 14:2 (New International Version)

As a child my family's menu consisted of two choices: take it or leave it.
Buddy Hackett

Next time you're on the verge of saying "I have to…", try replacing it by "I choose to..", "I want to…", "I've decided to…", or "I'm going to…"…. Think of the frustration and damage to self-esteem that must come from thinking that you have to do everything that you do. And think of how much more powerful you'll feel when you say, "I've decided to".
John Langdon, Wordplay

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit-fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.
John 15:16 (New International Version)

Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.
William Jennings Bryan

Every choice you make has an end result.
Zig Ziglar

One hopes to achieve the zero option, but in the absence of that we must achieve balanced numbers.
Margaret Thatcher

Look for your choices, pick the best one, then go with it.
Pat Riley

The difficulty in life is the choice.
George Moore

Instead of looking at life as a narrowing funnel, we can see it ever widening to choose the things we want to do, to take the wisdom we've learned and create something.
Liz Carpenter

So Gad went to David and said to him, "This is what the LORD says: 'Take your choice: three years of famine, three months of being swept away before your enemies, with their swords overtaking you, or three days of the sword of the LORD -days of plague in the land, with the angel of the LORD ravaging every part of Israel.' Now then, decide how I should answer the one who sent me." David said to Gad, "I am in deep distress. Let me fall into the hands of the LORD, for his mercy is very great; but do not let me fall into the hands of men."
1 Chronicles 21:11-13 (New International Version)

It's choice - not chance - that determines your destiny.
Jean Nidetch

I believe that we are solely responsible for our choices, and we have to accept the consequences of every deed, word, and thought throughout our lifetime.
Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

Your life is the sum result of all the choices you make, both consciously and unconsciously. If you can control the process of choosing, you can take control of all aspects of your life. You can find the freedom that comes from being in charge of yourself.
Robert F. Bennett

But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.
2 Thessalonians 2:13 (New International Version)

It is by chance we met by choice we became friends.

The more alternatives, the more difficult the choice.
Abbe' D'Allanival

We have to believe in free will. Weve got no choice.
Isaac Bashevis Singer

What really interests me is whether God had any choice in the creation of the world.
Albert Einstein

Happiness is a choice that requires effort at times.

My generation, faced as it grew with a choice between religious belief and existential despair, chose marijuana. Now we are in our Cabernet stage.
Peggy Noonan

The origin of ... choice is desire and reasoning with a view to an end - this is why choice cannot exist without ... reason

Grid Analysis (also known as Decision Matrix Analysis, Pugh Matrix Analysis or MAUT, which stands for Multi-Attribute Utility Theory) is a useful technique to use for making a decision. It is particularly powerful where you have a number of good alternatives to choose from, and many different factors to take into account. This makes it a great technique to use in almost any important decision where there isn't a clear and obvious preferred option. Being able to use Grid Analysis means that you can take decisions confidently and rationally, at a time when other people might be struggling to make a decision.

Once you have made a choice, look forward not back. One turns a potential right choice into the right choice with thought, energy, and time. There were other possible right men in my life, but they aren't the ones I've spent 26 years learning to appreciate. It's the years of shared experience and mutual care that have made us THE right choices for each other.
Kathryn Britton

Choice is deliberate desire

On Making the Right Choice: The Deliberation-Without-Attention Effect
Contrary to conventional wisdom, it is not always advantageous to engage in thorough conscious deliberation before choosing. On the basis of recent insights into the characteristics of conscious and unconscious thought, we tested the hypothesis that simple choices (such as between different towels or different sets of oven mitts) indeed produce better results after conscious thought, but that choices in complex matters (such as between different houses or different cars) should be left to unconscious thought. Named the "deliberation-without-attention" hypothesis, it was confirmed in four studies on consumer choice, both in the laboratory as well as among actual shoppers, that purchases of complex products were viewed more favorably when decisions had been made in the absence of attentive deliberation. Remember that the identifiable attributes of a decision may be negligible compared to the accidentals that one cannot predict. What made my college experience outstanding were the people I met, particularly the three that are still friends after 30 years. These people were not listed in the college catalog.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
1 Peter 2:9 (New International Version)

If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.
Neil Peart
